How Far Should the Audience Sit From an LED Wall?
There is no single right distance, but there is a right relationship between how close your audience sits, the pixel pitch, and the screen size. Here is how to think about it.
Distance, pitch, and size work together
Two things change with viewing distance. First, the pixel pitch: the closer the nearest viewer, the tighter the pitch needs to be for a sharp image. Second, the size: the farther the farthest viewer, the larger the wall needs to be so the content still reads. Get both right and the picture looks great from the front row to the back.
Avoid seeing individual pixels
Your nearest audience members determine how tight the pixel pitch should be. Sit too close to a wide-pitch wall and you start to see the individual LEDs. We choose a pitch that stays smooth at your closest realistic viewing distance. Our pixel pitch guide goes deeper.
Keep text legible at the back
Your farthest audience members determine how big the wall needs to be. Text and detail have to stay legible from the back row, so deeper rooms and larger crowds need larger screens. Our size guide walks through it.
Questions, answered
How far should people sit from an LED screen?
There is no single number. The closest viewer sets the pixel pitch and the farthest viewer sets the size. We choose both so the image looks sharp from the front row to the back.
How close is too close to an LED wall?
Too close for the pitch is when you start to see individual LEDs. We pick a pixel pitch that stays smooth at your nearest realistic viewing distance.
Does viewing distance affect screen size?
Yes. The farther the back row sits, the larger the wall needs to be so text and content stay legible from every seat.
